I have always been interested in helping people. This interest led me down the path of nursing. As a bedside nurse, I tried my hands at many different types of nursing from ICU to Post hospital rehab care. Some personal events in my life directed the focus of my attention towards psychiatric care. As I gained experience in this field as a bedside nurse, I desired to make a difference directly for my patients based on my philosophy of care and unique outlook.
So, I decided to pursue the path of a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Developing treatment plans with my patients and supporting them as we navigate issues of depression, and anxiety amongst many others is something I enjoy very much. One obstacle that I keep encountering with my patients which stifles progress is a lack of social support or friends. Medication management and therapy can only do so much if loneliness and isolation are not addressed.
I was frustrated by the inability of available social media apps and meetup groups to provide structured interactions that can help isolated individuals feel comfortable when interacting in social settings.
I knew there had to be a better way, so I started Elevate Social Solutions to help with this problem by providing an avenue for people to meet other individuals, get to know them a little bit, and share a fun experience with them – all in one setting.
